Mike (Mayer) Rubin was born in Boston, USA in 1930 to a fairly religious and very Zionistic family. After attending primary school in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the family (his mother had died in the interim) returned to Boston. Mike attended the prestigious Boston Latin School and in the afternoon the Hebrew Teachers Seminar. He was a counselor at the Young Judea Summer Camps where he taught Hebrew. 

He left Boston University after one year to join American Machal and arrived in Israel in August 1948 to fight in the War of Independence. He served in the 9th Battalion of Hativat Hanegev and took part in the conquest of Beersheva. 

Mike returned to the States where went to learn a trade as a management trainee at a family factory near Harrisburg.  He returned to Jerusalem in 1951 and worked as a foreman in the only shoe factory in Israel. Realizing there were other needs here he went to London to study and returned to Jerusalem as a management consultant (one of the first in Israel) and set up the Jerusalem Branch of the Israel Productivity Institute (with an office in the Ministry of Labor).

Eventually moving to Tel Aviv he became a consultant to Bank Leumi and in 1958 set up the Efficiency Department at the Bank where he remained and set up both the Bank Leumi Operation Research and Marketing Departments. He was a Consultant to the Private Bank of the Shah in Teheran between 1972 -1977. From 1980 to 1985 he was the General Manager of Visa Credit Cards Israel for Bank Leumi, and on the Visa International Board.  After 30 years he left Bank Leumi and went into private business. 

In Sderot where he now lives, Mike volunteers to prepare business plans for young people. In 1954 he married Adele Aronson and they have 2 children (one in the States) and 5 grandchildren.
